Unity Candles

In my own experience we had an outdoor wedding in the mountains of New Mexico. I found out about unity candles and thought that would be perfect for our ceremony. With out much more thought we bought the candles and candelabra and fully intended to show everyone how unified we were about to be. As the ceremony got under way the one factor I did not consider was the wind, and before we could go any further with our plan it was scraped not only could we not light the candles due to the wind they certainly were not going to stay lite long enough to get the message across.
Had I known there were so many other options out there I would have done things differently.

Unity Sand

In our situation Unity Sand would have worked beautifully. You can choose sands that coordinate with your colors and pick out a really special vessel to keep and cherish for a long time.

Hand fasting

Another option that is more of a symbol and less of an object to keep, is the ancient Celtic ritual of Hand fasting. Again I love this idea of uniting the couple in a way that can be completely customized to the couples themes and beliefs.

Tree Planting

For the modern and environmentally conscience couple there is a tree planting ceremony, which again can be modified to suit your needs. If your ceremony is being performed on your land or at your home we can physically plant a sapling having the couple just add dirt and water during the ceremony. If your ceremony is not in the location you would like such a permanent fixture to be placed then we can have a potted tree again adding dirt and water during the ceremony, then you can take the tree where ever your adventures take you.
